Deep Cycle Marine/RV Batteries Versus Golf Cart Deep Cycle Batteries
Golf cart batteries are a type of deep cycle battery, but there are some differences between the two. Deep cycle marine batteries are designed to provide a steady amount of power over a long period of time, while golf cart batteries are designed to provide a large amount of power in a relatively short period of time. (approx. 120 minutes) See the run times and weights below for the 2 types of batteries.

Premium deep cycle batteries are generally more expensive than economy deep cycle batteries. They are built with higher quality materials, higher capacity and have longer lifespans than economy batteries.
If you’re looking for a battery that will last longer and provide better performance, then a premium deep cycle battery is the way to go, if you are on a tight budget and do not need extra performance, then the economy deep cycle battery will probably work fine for you.
Do not waste your time or money installing marine/rv batteries in your golf cart, yes, they will work, your golf cart charger is not designed to charge them properly, you are extremely limited to short runs and the life span is measured in months not years.
If you have a 4- or 6-person golf cart, a lifted golf cart or a high-performance golf cart do not waste your time or money on installing economy batteries either, they are designed for very short run times. We refer to them as mailbox batteries because that’s what they are good for. Run to the mailbox and back, run around the yard picking up limbs. They are not designed to drive around for 60 minutes as normal routine.
Visit your local Authorized golf cart dealer and talk to them about your batteries, they are generally experts when it comes to golf cart batteries. Don't waste your money buying off brand, black box, discount or warehouse store batteries. Most likely they have been sitting in a warehouse for months if not years and their employee's do not know what's the best bang for your buck.
